In a world where change is the only constant, the growth and development of our community signify progress and prosperity. Wednesday, I had the honor of attending the ceremony for the industry expansion at Arclin, located on Harlees Bridge Road. The recent growth of this industry in our county stands as a testament to the hard work and leadership of our current County Council. We were fortunate to witness how this dream evolved from its early stages into a remarkable $60 million investment in our community.
Achievements like this don’t occur by chance, nor do investments just appear out of thin air. I want to express my gratitude to our County Administrator Tim Harper, Economic Developer Rodney Berry, County Council Chairman Stevie Grice, and our entire county council. The recent expansion of Arclin is a tribute to their dedication and leadership. While other groups contributed, these individuals were pivotal in driving the effort forward. There were numerous moments when it seemed the deal might not succeed, with Dillon competing against several other areas where Arclin also has plants. This committed team refused to let these 30-plus jobs and $60 million of investment slip away to another location. They met, strategized, and adapted over many months. Each meeting focused solely on what would benefit the citizens of Dillon County and the positive impact it would have on our future.
The industry expansion in our region is not just a boost to our local economy; it serves as a beacon of opportunity. It brings new jobs, increased revenue, and a strengthened community infrastructure. The County Council’s strategic planning and commitment to creating a supportive environment for business growth have laid the foundation for this remarkable achievement. Such investments pave the way for even more investment.
The collaborative efforts of our County Administrator, Economic Developer, and council members has been crucial in navigating the complexities of this expansion. Their ability to engage with stakeholders, address community concerns, and prioritize sustainable development underscores their commitment to our county’s long-term welfare. This type of visionary leadership is essential to ensure that growth remains responsible and beneficial for all residents.
The success of the Arclin expansion is not only a victory for the Dillon County Council and the administration but for every community member. It serves as a reminder of what we can achieve when we unite with a shared vision for the future. The council’s efforts to connect with local businesses, residents, and other governmental entities like Representative Jackie Hayes, Senator Kent Williams and the City of Dillon have fostered a sense of unity and common purpose.
As we look ahead, let us continue to support and trust the leadership that has brought us to this milestone. The County Council’s dedication to transparency and community engagement will guarantee that our growth is sustainable and inclusive. Together, we can build on this success, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for everyone.
We extend our thanks to the Dillon County Council Administration and the Dillon County Council for their unwavering dedication and hard work. Their efforts have established a solid foundation for continued growth and prosperity in our community. We celebrate their achievements and eagerly anticipate the many opportunities that lie ahead.
N. Tally McColl
City of Dillon Mayor
