Carvers Bay defeated Lake View 32-7 in varsity football action played on Friday, October 10, in Lake View.
Carvers Bay’s #11received the opening kickoff. The Bears began on offense on their own 45. Faced with a third down and 10 to go, Carvers Bay’s #8 picked up 9 yards. On fourth down and 1 yard to go, #8 again rushed and this time picked up the 1 yard needed for a first down. Carvers Bay’s quarterback, #1, kept for big yards only to have the play nullified due to a holding call against the Bears. The Bears again found themselves facing a third and 14. #8 again rushed for 11 yards. Faced with a fourth down and 3, the Wild Gators committed a 5-yard penalty to give the Bears a first down. Faced with another third down and 8 yards to go, the pass was overthrown. The Bears punted on fourth down.
The Wild Gators began on their own 25-yard line. On the first offensive play, Lake View picked up 4 yards. On the second play, the Wild Gators picked up a first down on a completed pass to #13. Lake View’s quarterback, Chase Price, kept for a 1-yard pickup on fourth down to give Lake view a first down.
After 1 quarter of play, the game was tied at 0.
In the second quarter, Lake View completed a pass to #5 for a first and 10. As play continued, Lake View’s offense moved the football to Carvers Bay’s 34-yard line. From there, Lake View’s #11, Jackson, rushed for a 34-yard touchdown with 10:08 remaining in the second quarter. Jackson’s PAT was good. Lake View led 7-0.
The 7-point lead was short-lived as Carvers Bay’s #10 came up with a pass and rushed for a 56-yard TD to cut the lead to 1 point with 8:28 remaining in the second quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Lake View was up 7-6.
With 5:08 remaining in the first half, Carvers Bay’s #0 carried for a 25-yard TD. The 2-point conversion failed. Carvers Bay was up 12-7. This score would hold until halftime.
At halftime, the Lake View High School Band performed.
The third quarter began with Lake View’s #30 receiving the kickoff. Lake View began on their won 34-yard line. On fourth down, Lake View punted.
The Bears began offense on their own 33-yard line. Lake View took over on downs on Lake View’s 35-yard line.
The Wild Gators were faced with a fourth and 10. Chase Price punted to Carvers Bay’s 32-yard line with 2:24 remaining in the third quarter. With 1:27 remaining in the third quarter, Carvers Bay’s #8 carried for a 64-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion pass play in the end zone failed. Carvers Bay led 18-7. This score would be the same at the end of the third quarter.
With 9:34 remaining in the fourth quarter, Carvers Bay’s #0 carried for a 37-yard TD. The PAT was good by #30. Carvers Bay led 25-7.
The Bears would add another touchdown with #8 scoring from 8 yards out with 5:143 remaining in the game. The PAT was good by #30. The Bears would leave Lake View with a 8-0 record for the season and in first place in A Region 6.
