On day 77 of their journey, Buddhist Monks and their dog, Aloka, came to Columbia, South Carolina today, Saturday, January 10, on their 120 day, 2,300 mile walk for peace. They started in Fort Worth, Texas, and are traveling to Washington, D.C. They are seeking “to raise awareness of peace, loving kindness, and compassion across America and the world,” according to their social media page. Thousands of people turned out to see the monks including Belva and Savannah Britt of Latta. They received bracelets blessed by the monks. The monks are staying at Lutheran Theological Seminary before continuing their journey on Sunday.
