The Aynor Lady Blue Jackets shut out the Dillon Lady Wildcats 10-0 in the run-ruled varsity softball game played in Dillon on Tuesday, March 24, on a cold evening.
Aynor jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Lady Blue Jackets added 6 runs in the top of the second inning, 2 runs in the top of the third inning, and 1
In the top of the first inning, E. Williamson began on the mound for the Lady Wildcats. Aynor’s #7 hit one to right for a lead-off single. Aynor’s #14 sacrificed bunted to move the runner to second. The Lady Blue Jackets’ #11 hit a grounder to short to move the runner to third. Aynor’s #12 hit a grounder to first, and the runner scored on the error to take the 1-0 lead. Aynor left the bases loaded in the top of the first inning.
Aynor’s #7 began on the mound. In the first inning, she retired the side in 1-2-3 fashion with a lead-off pop-up and 2 swinging strike-outs.
Aynor’s bats came alive and collected 7 hits in the top of the second inning including a couple of doubles that allowed the Lady Blue Jackets to place 6 runs onto the scoreboard. Dillon’s Jayla Wright took over the mound duties for Dillon in the middle of the second inning.
After 3 innings of play, Aynor was up 9-0. Aynor added the final run in the top of the fifth inning.
The 5-5 Dillon Lady Wildcats will host Green Sea Floyds today (Wednesday, March 25) at 7:00 p.m.
The 8-3 Aynor Lady Blue Jackets will host North Myrtle Beach on Thursday, March 26, at 6:00 p.m.
