A defendant involved in a violent armed robbery and kidnapping incident has been sentenced to prison following a guilty plea in court.
Charles Allen Cribb pled guilty to Armed Robbery and Kidnapping before Judge Gibbons.
Cribb was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on each charge, with the sentences to run concurrently.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on December 10, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., when four masked suspects armed with handguns entered a Verizon store. The suspects forced employees at gunpoint into a back room and demanded access to the store’s safe. Because the safe was on a time-delay, the suspects were required to wait approximately 10 minutes for it to open.
During that time, a customer entered the store. One of the suspects grabbed one of the employees by the arm, pointed a firearm at the victim, and forced the victim to tell the customer that service was unavailable and that they needed to leave the store.
Once the safe opened, the suspects stole cash and multiple cellular phones before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement was able to track one of the stolen phones due to an internal tracking device, which led officers to Dillon County. The vehicle was later confirmed to be owned and driven by Cribb. When law enforcement attempted a traffic stop, the suspects fled and led officers on a brief pursuit along Interstate 95 through a construction zone. During the pursuit, the suspects threw firearms and stolen cell phones from the vehicle.
Law enforcement ultimately stopped the vehicle using a PIT maneuver and took the suspects into custody.
The remaining co-defendants involved in this incident are still awaiting trial. In addition to this case, Cribb has outstanding Armed Robbery and Kidnapping charges pending in Richland County, Lumberton, and Fayetteville.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor J.T. Baxley and was originally scheduled for trial on February 2, 2026.
