Alex Hampton Johnson, Jr. Named Latta Rotary Club Citizen Of The Year

The Latta Rotary Club recognized Alex Hampton Johnson, Jr. as their Citizen of the Year for his exemplary service to the Latta community.
TRecipients have been individuals and groups from all walks of life who have provided exemplary service to the Latta community. Several past recipients were present for the award ceremony.
Johnson was born in Latta in 1952 to Buddy and Mickey JOhnson. He graduated from Latta High School in 1970 where he was active in sports, The Latta Shall-Go, annual staff, National Honor Society, Boys State, and was a Furman scholar. He was also a bus driver. In 1974, he graduated from Clemson University in agronomy.
In 2003, he moved back to the home that his grandfather built, and in 2004, he re-joined the Latta Baptist Church where he has been an active member. He served two tours in Afghanistan. He is retired from the USDA .
Johnson and his wife, Susan, have two daughter, one who lives in Los Angeles and the other who lives in Conway and one grandson, who lives in Conway.
In 2019, he had a liver transplant and has been serving God by using his gift of life.
