Dillon Shuts Out Waccamaw 10-0

The Dillon Lady Wildcats shut out the Waccamaw Lady Warriors 10-0 in the run-ruled 6-inning varsity softball game played in Dillon on Thursday, March 19.
Dillon’s #9, Zoee Chavis, faced Waccamaw’s A. Stewart who hit a grounder to third for out 1, struck out K. Dawson, and walked #21, and struck out E. Parler to retire the side in the top of the first inning.
Dillon’s Makeena Meekins led off with a stand-up double on a hit to left. Dillon’s K. Tanksley sac bunted to move Meekins to third. Meekins scored on a passed ball to give the Lady Wildcats a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
Zoee Chavis retired Waccamaw in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the second inning with 2 strike outs and a fly ball to right.
In the bottom of the second inning, Dillon left the bases loaded. After 2 innings of play, Dillon was up 1-0.
After 2 strike outs in the top of the third inning, Waccamaw’s A. Stewart bunted safely. However, K. Dawson hit a grounder to second for out 3.
Dillon’s K. Tanksley hit a grounder between third and short for a single. She was thrown out attempting to steal second. The Lady Wildcats’ #5 dropped a fly ball to right for a single. Jayla Wright hit one to deep right for a triple and a rbi., and she also hit a home run. Z. Chavis for Dillon hit a grounder to short and was out at first with Wright crossing home plate. After 3 innings of play, Dillon led 3-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, Waccamaw’s #21 flew out to right followed by #7 and #9 who struck out.
Dillon added 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, and 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Zoee Chavis picked up the win for Dillon.
Dillon’s Makeena Meekins had 2 singles, a double, a rbi, and scored 2 runs. Zoee Chavis 2 singles and a triple. K. Tanksley had a hit. W. Hughes garnered a walk. A. Wallace had a hit and scored a run. E. Williamson scored a run.
Waccamaw’s A. Stewart and B. Dockery had a hit. R. Stewart also recorded a stolen base.
Dillon’s Makeena Meekins had 2 stolen bases, and W. Hughes, A. Wallace, and E. Williamson each recorded a stolen base.
Dillon will host West Bladen on Friday, March 20, at 6:00 p.m.
Waccamaw will host Marlboro County on Tuesday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m.
