VETERANS SPOTLIGHT: Georgene Frances Dixon

Georgene Francis Dixon (nee Pittman) was born and reared in Dillon, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Lizzie J. Pittman. A trailblazer and dedicated public servant, she began her distinguished military career in November 1986, when she enlisted in the United States Army. She completed both Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Over the course of her 28-year career, Georgene rose to the esteemed rank of Chief Warrant Office Five (CW5), one of the highest ranks achievable by a warrant officer. Her dedication, leadership, and excellence earned her numerous awards, most notably the Legion of Merit, recognizing her exceptionally meritorious conduct and outstanding service.

A pivotal moment in her career came when she was nominated by the Quartermaster General to serve as the Army’s first female Food Advisor, breaking barriers and setting a precedent for future generations of women in the military.

Following her retirement from the Army on September 27, 2014, Georgene continued her commitment to service and leadership. She held roles as a Human Resource Specialist at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and later at the Environmental Protection Agency. She also served as Vice President of Operations at Blackstone Consulting Inc., further expanding her professional impact beyond the military.

Today, Georgene Dixon resides in her hometown of Dillon, South Carolina, where she channels her entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of Dixon Construction and Renovation. Her legacy is marked by resilience, leadership, and a lifelong dedication to excellence in every chapter of her journey.
