One Dawg: Phase II of MCSD Athletic Program

Phase II of the athletic plan outlines the next steps in strengthening and expanding Marlboro County athletics for the 2026–2027 school year. Following participation increases of 14 percent at the middle school level and 21 percent at the high school level, the plan proposes consolidating winter and spring middle school sports into unified county teams to enhance competitiveness, coaching efficiency, and student experience.
Phase II also introduces middle school track, unifies baseball and softball programs, and streamlines team structures to create a clear Varsity, JV, and Middle School pathway. With strategic adjustments to coaching, facilities, and an estimated $3,855 in uniform expenses, the initiative focuses on expanding opportunities while building a stronger, more united athletic program. The board unanimously voted to table this agenda item until principals and school athletic directors have the opportunity to meet and discuss the proposed plan.
