LATTA – Danny Leroy McDowell, 73, passed peacefully away at his home surrounded by his family, March 10, 2026. Memorial services will be held privately by his family at a future date. Kannaday Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Danny was born in Florence, SC January 8, 1953, the son of the late Sam Leroy McDowell and Ruby Edge McDowell. He attended Latta Church of God. He retired after many years as a welder and devoted his time to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He tried to attend as many Latta Viking games as possible that his grandchildren or great grandchildren were playing.
Danny is survived by his sons, Danny Leroy McDowell, Jr.(Christonya) of Latta, SC and Marcus McDowell (Juli) of High Point, NC; daughter Roxann “Little Rock” Wallace (Anthony) of Latta, SC; brothers, Randall McDowell of Myrtle Beach, SC and Sam McDowell (Lynne) of Dillon, SC; grandchildren, Pam, Courtney, Alexis, Tamara, Sierra, Danny, Clayton, and Isaac; and five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Mike McDowell.
