Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself and/or your personal journey
A.
My journey has brought me through many trials and tribulations. I have faced and overcome obstacles that, at the time, I never imagined I would be strong enough to handle when God first placed them in front of me. But through faith, perseverance, and determination, I am still here and still moving forward and continuing to push myself each day. As a Multiple Sclerosis Survivor, I have learned that while parts of our story may already be written, we still have the choice in how we respond to it. I have chosen to keep going, to keep pushing myself forward, and to not let the challenges define or stop me. Although the challenges I faced you may not see on the surface, going through those experiences have taught me strength, patience, and the importance of never giving up, even on the difficult days. Every obstacle has strengthened me, shaped who I am today, and reminded me that resilience and faith can carry you through even the hardest chapters of life.

Q. What is a little known fact about yourself that you wish to share?
A.
I’m an avid dog lover. I currently have six large dogs, and they truly bring a lot of joy and personality into my life. Animals have always had a special place in my heart. If I ever hit the lottery, one of my biggest dreams would be to open a dog sanctuary where I could rescue and care for lonely, unwanted dogs—especially those left behind in shelters or wandering without a home. I would love to give them a safe place to live, plenty of care, and the chance to experience the love and comfort every animal deserves.

Q. Hobbies/What you like to do in your spare time?
A.
I enjoy antique shopping and reading but mostly I enjoy sitting on the back deck at home, relaxing with my husband. Whether we’re talking, listening to music, or just enjoying the quiet, those moments together are some of the most meaningful and peaceful parts of my day.

Q. What is in one of your biggest accomplishments?
A.
One of my biggest accomplishments, aside from being a mom and grandmother, has been the professional milestones I have achieved throughout my career. I have worked hard to continually grow and strengthen my knowledge by earning numerous certifications along the way. One of my most recent achievements was earning my designation as a Certified Public Funds Investment Manager (CPFIM) from the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada as well as an Municipal Clerk Honor Roll Certificate and Pin from the General Code Council.

Q. Who has been an influential figure in your life and why?
A.
One of the most influential figures in my life has always been my father. He has always been a source of strength and stability for me. No matter what challenges life has brought, he has always been there for me, supporting me, guiding me, and showing me what it means to stand strong even during difficult times.

Q. What is the best advice you have ever received?
A.
One of the best pieces of advice I have ever received is to always stay true to who you are and never let difficult situations change your character. Life will bring challenges, criticism, and moments that test your patience and strength, but your integrity and values should remain constant. That advice has stayed with me because it reminds me that while we cannot control everything that happens around us, we can control how we respond. Staying grounded, treating others with respect, and having the strength to always speak the truth, even when it’s not the easiest thing to do.

Q. Fun fact about yourself.
A.
Some fun facts about me that many people may be surprised to learn are that I taught Sunday School and Catholic/Christian classes with classrooms of 30+ kids for nearly 20 years. During that time, I also taught the Arts & Crafts class for Vacation Bible School, which was always a joy and a great way to connect with the kids in the community. Another fun part of my past is that I was a square dancer and even performed at local country fairs back in my hometown and on tv. It was a lot of fun and created many great memories and on one occasion I even Square Danced on Ice Skates. I also have a musical side and play both the piano and the flute, which has always been something I’ve enjoyed.

Q. What is the key to success?
A.
To me, the key to success is perseverance, integrity, and a strong work ethic. Success does not happen overnight, it comes from showing up every day, doing your best, and continuing to move forward even when things become difficult. It also means being honest, speaking the truth, and standing firm in your values. Just as important is learning to control your emotions and tame your tone, especially in challenging situations. Being able to remain calm, think clearly, and respond with professionalism and respect can make all the difference in both your personal and professional life. When you combine hard work, integrity, self-control, and determination, you build a strong foundation for lasting success.

Q. Anything else you would like to add.
A.
I am lucky to have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. I absolutely love living in the South and the small family oriented town that I live in and the one I work in remind me of the same small country family town I grew up in back North just without snow.
