FROM THE TOWN OF LATTA
As we continue to monitor the potential for severe weather, the Town is actively preparing to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. Below is an update on current preparedness efforts and coordination underway:
Street & Drainage Preparedness
• Ditches throughout town have been cleared to help reduce flooding.
• Sand is staged and ready for deployment if conditions require.
• Street Department staff are prepared to respond during inclement weather as needed.
Emergency Supplies & Facilities
• Emergency supply requests have been submitted and will be filled as soon as possible.
• Heaters have been identified for use at the Community Center should a warming station become necessary.
Warming Station & Public Safety Planning
• Preparations are underway to identify items needed to provide light meals if a warming station is activated.
• Coordination with local law enforcement is being explored to ensure public safety and support during storm conditions.
Emergency Response Support
• Town staff are prepared to assist with emergency needs, including safely transporting residents to a warming station if required.
• Additional support and coordination will be provided as conditions evolve.
Resident Preparedness Reminder
We encourage residents to be prepared for possible power outages by having essentials on hand, including cash, necessary medications, flashlights, batteries, and fully charged devices.
Additionally:
– Stay weather-aware
– Secure outdoor items
– Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors
– Bring pets inside or ensure that they have adequate shelter
