Chevella German is being named the Head Start Region 4 “Staff of the Year” award winner, a distinguished honor recognizing her exceptional dedication and service. Region 4 encompasses eight southeastern states—Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee—making this achievement a remarkable regional distinction.
Chevella will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, in February 2026 to be formally recognized for this outstanding accomplishment.
This is not the first time Chevella’s commitment has earned statewide acclaim. She previously received South Carolina’s State Parent Family Community Engagement Award in 2021 and South Carolina’s State Staff of the Year Award in 2025, reflecting her consistent excellence and unwavering passion for supporting families.
A native of Hamer, South Carolina, Chevella’s career reflects more than three decades of service centered on family well-being, community support, and professional leadership. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield after 30 years of distinguished service. She also serves as the Site Coordinator for the Strengthening Families Program in Dillon County.
