Norris Barr-Mack Announces Candidacy for Latta Town Council Special Election, December 30, 2025
I am proud to announce my candidacy for Latta Town Council in the special election on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
I am running on a commitment to leadership that listens, transparent government, and active community involvement — values I believe are essential to serving Latta with integrity. I grew up in Latta, where this community helped shape my values, work ethic, and commitment to service. After graduating from Latta High School, I left to pursue higher education and career opportunities, but I never lost my connection to home. Nearly five years ago, I made the decision to return home to care for my aging mother, Mrs. Allie Barr Wilson. Latta is not just where I live — it is where my heart is. This community has shaped who I am, and now is my opportunity to give back.
Leadership is not about titles-it’s about listening, serving, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the people you represent. I believe every resident deserves to be heard, and I will work to ensure that our local government is responsive to the needs of our community. My leadership journey began during my senior year at Latta High school, where I served as Student Body President. I later attended North Carolina A&T State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While there, I was selected to serve in the North Carolina Fellows Program, a leadership development initiative focused on service, integrity, and professional growth. Professionally, I worked as a college admissions administrator, leading teams and working closely with parents, educators, and employers to help them make informed decisions about education and career goals. In that role, listening carefully and communicating clearly were essential — and those same principles guide my approach to public service.
Trust is built on honesty and transparency. I am committed to an open local government where decisions are made openly, information is accessible, and accountability is never compromised. Citizens deserve to know not only what decisions are made, but why they are made. Transparency is the foundation of trust, and I will uphold it. I believe leadership requires action. That belief has guided my involvement in community service efforts here in Latta. I was proud to lead initiatives such as Community Clean-Up Day, bringing residents together to beautify our town and take pride in our shared spaces. These efforts reflect what is possible when neighbors work together with a shared purpose. I support the ongoing water improvement project here in Latta, which is focused on ensuring safe and reliable water service for every household. I am also committed to working with local and state partners to improve our streets and sidewalks, making neighborhoods safer, more accessible, and welcoming for families, seniors, and children. These practical improvements help strengthen Latta and support the quality of life our residents deserve.
Faith and service are important to who I am. I am an active member of St. Phillips United Methodist Church, where I serve as President of the United Methodist Men and as a member of the Usher Board. Serving my church reinforces the values of humility, responsibility, and service that guide my commitment to this community.
Together, we can complete the vision through leadership that listens, respects our past, and serves our community with integrity. Let’s keep moving Latta forward!
I humbly ask for your support. Vote Norris Barr-Mack for Latta Town Council Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
