Pee Dee Academy Wins 27-0 Over Orangeburg Prep

The Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles won 27-0 over the Orangeburg Prep Indians in varsity football action played in Mullins on Friday, November 7.
The game proved to be a defensive battle in the first half with only 7 points scored by Pee Dee Academy.
The Indians received the opening onside kickoff by the Golden Eagles to give them great field position on the 50-yard line. Orangeburg Prep’s #1, Riley, picked up a first down. After an incomplete pass intended for the Indians’ #1, Riley, the Indians’ quarterback fired another pass that was almost picked off by Pee Dee Academy’s #13, Ryan Small.
The Golden Eagles took possession of the football on their own 21-yard line. From there, Pee Dee academy’s #2, Tristan Heckman, began the offensive linemen, carried for a first down followed by another first down by #13, Ryan Small.
At the end of the first quarter, the score was tied at zero.
With 11:20 remaining in the second quarter, Tristan Heckman rushed for a 15-yard TD followed by the PAT by Jacob Freeman to give the Golden Eagles a 7-0 lead that they would carry until the end of the first half.
The special kickoff team stopped #17 on the Indians’ 31-yard line. Orangeburg Prep’s #7 kept for a 6-yard gain. After the Indians were accessed 2 penalties, the Indians had a first and 20. #17 picked up 5 yards on the first play followed by a reception for #17 good for 4 yards. Faced with a third down and 11 yards to go, the Indians were hit with another 5-yard penalty to make it third down and 15 yards to go. Orangeburg Prep threw an incomplete pass to #17. Faced with a fourth down, the Indians’ #7 punted.
The Golden Eagles were unable to move the football and turned the ball over on downs. The Indians also turned the football over on downs.
The teams defense would not allow another score in the first half.
In the second half of play, the Golden Eagles added 20 points to the scoreboard as they rolled to victory to face Hilton Head Prep on Friday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m.
