The Ahmari Huggins-Bruce First Annual Football Camp was held on Saturday, May 18, at the City of Dillon Recreation soccer and football fields off Hwy. 34 in Dillon.
The rain and the threat of more rain did not deter turn-out and participation.
Of course, Ahmari Huggins-Bruce was on hand and many staff members, volunteers, coaches, dignitaries, and many more were present. People such as Coach Jackie Hayes, City of Dillon Mayor Tally McColl, Coach Nate Hinton of Dutch Fork, Desmond Davidson of 360 Management, Jamari Brown who was a former Louisville and NFL player who was drafted in 2015; Camp Director Georffrey George, Assistant Camp Director Keisha Hayes, Coach Kelvin Roller, Coach Lee Page, and so many other volunteers were on hand to assist with the football camp.
There were a few who spoke to the crowd such as Coach Jackie Hayes who stressed the importance of working hard in the classroom. Coach Nate Hinton spoke and offered free tickets to the NC & SC Youth Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas which is the standard for youth football to be held in Greenville, S.C., on December 19 plus he stated that one has to have respect for God, parents, teachers and others with authority, and one’s self, Desmond Davidson of Total 360 Management of Louisville, and Cory Wilson, Jamari Brown and his business partner, Desmond Davidson, helped Ahmari Huggins-Bruce with this camp. Also, he stated that they looked forward to helping Ahmari in the future with other events especially the next football camp to be held in Dillon.
At the conclusion of the camp, prayer was offered and food was served to everyone.
This camp proved to be an exciting event for all.
