The third annual Health Promotion and Community Leadership Excellence Awards Conference was held on Saturday, October 25, at the City of Dillon Wellness Center. This was a program of the Manning Baptist Church “Soup For The Soul” Community Outreach Ministry and community partners.
The conference keynote speaker was Senator Kent Williams. Dr. Rodney McCorkle awarded the 2025 Leadership Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award to Senator Williams.
Ava Dean, RN, MPH, CPSS, gave a presentation on Diabetes Prevention in the Community. Mrs. Amy Rushing, S.C. Department of Aging, gave a presentation on Dementia 101.
The Health Ministry and Soup for the Soul appreciation was given by Dr. Carolyn Covington, conference chair.
The leadership keynote speaker was Madie Robinson, executive director of Healthy Start in Florence. George Johnson spoke on why community leadership matters.
