Lake View Defeats Latta, 1-0

The Lake View Wild Gators defeated the Latta Vikings 1-0 in varsity baseball playoff action in Latta on Monday, May 13.
The only score of the game came in the top of the fourth inning when Kason Herlong singled on a ground ball to short. He stole second. Chris McGill hit a grounder to third, and McGill was thrown out at first to advance Herlong to third. Luke Price hit a grounder to second and was out at first but Herlong scored.
Lake View’s Luke Price picked up the win. He allowed 2 hits, walked 1, struck out 5, and did not allow any runs. He faced 24 batters.
Latta’s P. Brown took the loss. He pitched 7 innings and allowed 6 hits, 1 earned run, walked 2, and did not strike out anyone. He faced 28 batters.
Lake View’s Kason Herlong had a triple, a single, scored a run, and had a stolen base in his 4 at-bats. Chris McGill had a hit and a walk in his 3 plate appearances. Luke Price had a rbi and was hit by a pitch in his 4 plate appearances. Tucker Bass had 2 hits in his 3 at-bats. Luke King had a double in his 3 at-bats. Ian Capps garnered a walk.
Latta’s B. Berry had a hit in his 2 at-bats, and Seth Minshew had a hit in his 3 at-bats. C. Smith garnered a walk. P. Brown was hit by a pitch.
