Latta Defeats Visiting East Columbus Gators In Varsity Football

The Latta Vikings defeated the visiting East Columbus Gators of Lake Waccamaw, N.C., 42-8 in varsity non-region football action played in Latta on Friday, August 22.
Latta got onto the scoreboard first in the second quarter with a touchdown and added a 2-point conversion for an 8-0. By halftime, Latta was up 14-0. After 3 quarters of play, Latta was up 36-0. In the fourth quarter, Latta added another touchdown, and East Columbus added a touchdown and a 2-point conversion.
On Latta’s offense: Fischer Richardson had 4 carries for 120 yards and 4 touchdowns. Jayden Alford had 3 carries for 52 yards. Luke Huggins had a carry for 6 yards. Gavin Aubin had a carry for 25 yards. Irangabiye Johnson had 4 carries for 81 yards. Hayden Bullard had 4 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown.
Latta’s Freshman quarterback Luke Huggins completed 6 of 10 passes for 67 yards.
On Latta’s defense: Xy’Mari Bethea had 7 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. Ryion Gurley had 8 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack. Zamarion Monroe had 7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 sack. Noah Alford had 5 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 tackles for a loss. Anthony Williams had 6 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble. Jayden Alford had an interception. Crishawn Kollock had 5 tackles. Zack Page had 4 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 tackle for a loss. Caden Lee had 2 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. Gavin Aubin had 5 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 tackles for a loss. Hayden Bullard had 1 tackle. Joe’Maurie Galloway had a tackle and an interception. Tyleek Blount had 1 tackle.
Head Coach Brandon Iseman is in his tenth season with Latta. The Latta Vikings football coaching staff returns this year with the exception of Pierce Watson. Mike Donald is a newcomer to the program. He will be in charge of the defensive backs. Matt Caulder is the offensive coordinator, Freddie Sawyer is coaching the offensive linemen, Brandon Page is the defensive linemen coach, Robbie Brown is the wide receivers, and Chris Page is the running backs coach.
Latta will host Marion on Friday, August 29, at 7:30 p.m.
East Columbus will host Heide Trask on Friday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m.
