Dr. Greg Hyler was the guest speaker in the second installment of Unity In The Community held on Sunday, August 10, at 6:00 p.m. at Pyerian Baptist Church, Latta.
Dr. James Orr, pastor of Pyerian Baptist Church, welcomed everyone.
Pastor Harold Cooke of Mount Calvary Baptist Church offered prayer. Mount Calvary Baptist Church will be the host for the third installment of Unity in the Community to be held Sunday, August 17, at 6:00 p.m. with Dr. Trent McLouglin as the guest speaker.
The choir and the congregation sang “Holy Ground”.
Pastor Richie Hicks of Second Baptist Church and also the Chairman for the Carolina Tent Crusade spoke briefly of the upcoming crusade to be held on October 19-23 and October 26-30. There are 10 churches on the steering committee. October 26-30. On September 27, the tent that will hold 3,500 people will go up in Dillon. There will be something for everyone to do for God. This will be a great awakening for our community. On August 21, there will be a very big, important meeting. We need a representative from each church to be present for this meeting.
Advertising will begin soon such as 5,000 3″x3″ cards with “Meet me at the tent” with a bar code also on the card. 3,000 11″x17″ posters will be placed in businesses. Videos of the tent erection to be presented by churches. There will be 3,000 door hangers, 250 yard signs, and 43″x48″ road signs to be erected at road crossings.
Also, look for “Who’s your one?”
There are 45 to 50 churches already committed and signed up. We’re looking for more.
The choir leader and the choir for Pyerian Baptist Church sang “Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)”.
A mother and daughter, Jean Snipes and Julie Snipes, who were accompanied by grandson, Chase Mishue blessed the congregation with the hymn, “Revelation Song”.
Dr. James Orr, pastor of Pyerian Baptist Church, welcomed Dr. Greg Hyler, pastor of North Myrtle Beach Baptist Church, as the guest speaker.
Dr. Hyler spoke from Philippians Chapter 3, 10-14. Verses 1-9 Paul tells his story of how Jesus Saved him. Verse 10 tells what happens next. As Christians we are to press on in the Christian race. Paul’s drive was to know the Lord Jesus Christ in an intimate and personal way.
God is at work all the time.
Paul also wanted to know the Resurrection Power as a believer. God’s power comes through His presence.
An invitation was given followed by a Benediction.
