Lake View Shuts Out Carvers Bay 6-0

The Lake View Wild Gators shut out the visiting Carvers Bay Bears 6-0 in Lake View on Tuesday, May 7.
Carvers Bay went peacefully in the top of the first inning with 2 strike outs and a pop up.
Lake View’s #4 hit a hot one to deep short and arrived safely. #22 for Lake View received an intentional walk. The Wild Gators’ #4, Kason Herlong, stole third. Lake View’s #19 hit one to center for a single and 2 rbi. After one inning of play, Lake View was up 2-0.
#18 for Carvers Bay garnered a leadoff walk. The Bears’ #22 hit a fly to right that was caught by the right fielder who made a great running catch for out 1. #24 flew out to left for out 2, and #14 went down swinging.
In the bottom of the second inning, Lake View’s #13 hit one that hit the fence for a double. A passed ball moved #13 to third base. Lake View’s #26 lined one to right for a single and a rbi. After 2 innings of play, Lake View was up 3-0.
After a quick strike out, Carvers Bay’s #8 was hit by a pitch to arrive at first base. He stole second base. #3 for the Bears hit a grounder to short and was out at first but the base runner moved to third and was in scoring position. #11 hit a grounder to the pitcher to close out the top of the third inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, Lake View’s #11 hit a grounder up the middle for a single and was stranded on third as the inning closed.
Carvers Bay’s #1 led off with a line drive to center and was left stranded in the top of the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lake View’s #13 hit a hot grounder between first and second for a leadoff single. The Wild Gators’ #26 hit one to right for a single but ended up on second on the throw to third. #22 for Lake View received an intentional walk to load the bases with 2 outs. A strike out ended the inning and left 3 stranded.
Lake View’s pitcher retired Carvers Bay in the top of the fifth inning in 1-2-3 fashion with 3 strike outs.
The Wild Gators’ #19 lined one to right for a leadoff single. Carvers Bay’s catcher made a great catch on a pop up on an attempted bunt by Lake View’s #2. #19 for Lake View moved to second base on a passed ball. #16 hit a sac fly to right for out 2, and #19 moved to third. Lake View’s #13 drove one up the middle for a single and a rbi. After 5 innings of play, Lake View led 4-0.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Lake View’s #8 hit a grounder to second and arrived safely at first. Kason Herlong hit a grounder to short and #8 was out at second on a fielder’s choice. #22 received an intentional walk to place runners on first and second. #17 was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A strike out accounted for out 2. A walk garnered a run for Lake View and a passed ball accounted for a run to give Lake View a 6-0 lead going into the seventh inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Bears went in 1-2-3 fashion to end the game.
