The history-making Dillon High School Lady Wildcats Basketball team was honored on Tuesday morning with a surprise celebration in the school’s media center. Principal Timothy Gibbs thanked the Lady Wildcats for “an exhilarating season” in which they made history as the first Lower State Champions in ladies basketball. He told them to be proud and take a bow because they deserved it. He thanked them for their hard work, sweat, and shocking moments. Gibbs said they will miss the seniors, but the rest can come back next year and try to do it again. He again offered them congratulations. Coach Christina Campbell said they wanted to show the team how proud they are of them. She and Coach Michelle Keyes Gibbons presented the young ladies and the managers with a swag bag full of Lower State Championship items. After some of the outgoing seniors made remarks, they all enjoyed cake.
