Who’s cutting the grass at the new county parks?
Several people contacted The Dillon County News, LLC from the Floyd Dale area wanting the answer to this question.
County Administrator Tim Harper said that the county is using Turbeville Lawn Services to cut the grass at the two new parks. Harper said that staff members got bids on this last year when the parks in Hamer and Floyd Dale were completed.
The parks are cut every week during the summer and every two or three weeks the rest of the year at a cost of $150/cut, Harper said.
“We decided to do this while the parks were in their one year warranty period,” Harper said. “We are considering contracting all the parks out during the upcoming year.”
Why is the county not cutting the grass? “This is due to being short staffed and in order to put an emphasis on litter control and enforcement,” Harper said.
