The Latta Lady Vikings edged the Green Sea Floyds Trojans 2-1 in varsity softball played in Latta on Friday, March 28.
Latta’s Maddie Berry picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings and allowed no earned runs, 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 17.
Macie Collins was tagged with the loss. She pitched 6.2 innings and allowed no earned runs, 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5.
Green Sea Floyds lone run came in the top of the first inning. Latta knotted the score at 1 with a run in the bottom of the first inning and added the winning score in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Trojans’ Ali Elliott was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and a single. D. Crawford managed a single and a rbi in 3 at-bats.
The Vikings’ C. Walters was 2 for 3 at the plate with a rbi.
Latta is 10-2 for the season.
Green Sea Floyds is 4-5 overall and 2-1 in region play.
Latta will host Hemingway today, Tuesday, April 1, for a 7:30 p.m. game at Buddy Johnson Park in Latta. Latta will travel to Carvers Bay in Hemingway on Friday, April 4, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
Green Sea Floyds will host Hannah-Pamplico today, April 1, at 6:00 p.m. and will host Georgetown on Wednesday, April 2, at 6:00 p.m.
