The Latta JV boys defeated the visiting Johnsonville Golden Flashes 61-15 in basketball played in Latta on Tuesday, January 14.
By halftime, Latta was up 28-8.
The Latta JV boys continued scoring in the third quarter with Latta’s #3 sinking a 2-point basket who quickly laid another basket in for 2 points followed by #2 for Latta who also make a layup for 2 points.
Latta’s aggressive defense fouled Johnsonville’s @25 who connected for 1 free throw.
The Vikings were soon up 40-13 over the visitors.
Latta’s #12 connected for 2 points.
On defense for Latta, the Vikings’ #0 blocked Johnsonville’s #1 shot. On the next play, Latta’s #0 fouled #11 for the Golden Flashes as he shot.
After 3 quarters of play, Latta was up 51-15. Latta committed4 fouls while Johnsonville committed only 1 foul.
In the final quarter of play, Latta’s #23 laid one in for 2 points and followed that 2-point basket with another one. The Vikings’ #11 blocked Johnsonville’s #25’s shot. Latta’s #23 scored another 2-point basket. Johnsonville attempted some shots that just would not fall in their favor. Latta’s #21 sank the final 2-point basket of the game to give Latta a 61-15 win.
In the final quarter of play, Latta committed 3 fouls while Johnsonville was not guilty of a foul.
Latta will host Green Sea Floyds on Friday, January 17, at 5:00 p.m.
Johnsonville will host Hemingway on Friday, January 17, at 5:00 p.m.
