The Latta Lady Vikings won 54-39 over the Cheraw Lady Braves in Latta on Tuesday, December 10.
Cheraw controlled the tipoff and connected for 2 quick baskets before Latta’ #5 connected for a 2-point basket. The first quarter was close throughout with Cheraw having the lead most of the time. However, the first quarter ended tied at 11. Latta committed 4 fouls while Cheraw committed 2 fouls in the first quarter.
In the beginning of the second quarter, Latta’s #13 scored a 2-point basket with Cheraw’s #4 connecting for a basket of her own. After that basket, Latta began to pull away from Cheraw. By the end of the first half, Latta was up by 7 points, 24-17. Each team committed 3 fouls in the second quarter.
Latta managed to get ahead by 8 points in the third quarter, but Cheraw cut the lead to 5 points, 28-23. At the end of 3 quarters, Latta led 34-28. Each team committed 5 fouls in the quarter.
Once again, Cheraw managed to cut Latta’s lead to only 3 points, 36-33. With 5:22 remaining in the game, Latta led 38-33. Latta’s offense picked up and managed to win by 15 points. Latta committed only 1 foul in the final quarter, and Cheraw committed 5 fouls.
On December 13, Latta will travel to Chesterfield for a 6:30 p.m. game.
