The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated Pernell Sweat 52-45 in varsity girls basketball in the Robeson County Shootout on Wednesday, December 18.
The Dillon girls led 10-6 after the first quarter of play. The Lady Wildcats added 20 points in the second quarter while Pernell Sweat added 11 points. In the third quarter of play, Pernell Sweat connected for 16 points while holding Dillon to 9 points. Dillon added 13 points in the final quarter, and Pernell Sweat added 12 points.
Dillon’s Treasure Davis led all scorers with 22 points. She had seven 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 4 free throws. Khwnylahi McKinnon added 13 points with four 2-point baskets and 5 free throws. Ayonna Lester added 6 points to the scoreboard with three 2-point baskets. Zynijah Pernell had a 2-point basket, a 3-point basket, and a free throw. Azyriah Ford and Alyssa Lee each scored a 2-point basket.
Pernell Sweat’s Jada Dial led her team with 16 points. She had five 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 3 free throws. Aidsyn Bland added 12 points to the scoreboard with five 2-pint baskets and 2 free throws. Terra Bullard had three 2-point baskets and a free throw. True Ellerbe added three 2-point baskets for 6 points. Zaylee Hunt and Chloe Chavis each sank a 2-point basket.
