Main Street Methodist Church To Present Annual Service Of Lessons And Carols

Main Street Methodist Church will present its annual Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. The Service will begin with a Prelude by The Sarah Allen Handbell Choir playing Lloyd Larson’s Arrangements of “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and “Joy to the World.” The Charles Wesley Choir will present WINTER’S GRACE, A Cantata for Christmas by Joseph M. Martin.
Each year, as winter takes hold and covers our days with its silent wonder, we are called to reflection as the shadows grow longer and the nights deepen, we gather in our chapels of faith seeking the comfort found in the assurance of God’s Word.
And so, in the bleak mid-winter we gather to worship at the cradle of the newborn King. We cast away our sin and our sorrows. We put away all of life’s burdens and distractions. With our arms and hearts emptied of all earthly clutter, we can now freely reach for our gift … and it reaches back to us. Grace is the gift, and it is wrapped in a baby named Jesus.
Please come and experience this joyful service celebrating Christmas at Main Street. Poignant readings and beautiful musical selections will once again retell the story of Christ’s Birth.
The Charles Wesley Choir under the direction of Shaw Thompson accompanied by Robin Thompson, Pianist and Jackson Stone, organist will present “Winter’s Grace.” The readings will be presented by Gerald Berry and Arlene Boyd.
