Lake View advanced to the next round of the playoffs with a 21-14 win over Johnsonville in a varsity football game played in Lake View on Friday, November 22, on a cold “football” night.
Lake View received the opening kickoff but fumbled on the opening series of downs, Johnsonville recovered but were forced to punt after being unable to move the football.
After the Wild Gators picked up 2 first downs, Lake View fumbled, and Johnsonville recovered. Once again, the Flashes’ offense could not move the pigskin and were forced to punt.
Lake View’s offense moved the football for 2 first downs before once again fumbling. But this time Johnsonville made a great run and scored to give the Flashes a 6-0 lead. The PAT was good. Johnsonville led 7-0 with 3:31 remaining in the first quartet.
Lake View faced a fourth down and elected to attempt a pass that failed.
Johnsonville took possession of the football on downs.
At the end of the first quarter Lake View trailed 7-0.
Johnsonville also attempted a pass on fourth down that came up short, and Lake View took over on downs.
The Wild Gators’ #55, Chase Price, punted on fourth down.
Lake View’s Caleb Myers intercepted a Johnsonville pass with 5:53 remaining in the first half. With 3:08 remaining in the first half, Tyrell Foxworth carried the football into the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown. The PAT was good by Lucas Schamp to knot the score at 7.
Lake View kicked off to Johnsonville. After an incomplete pass to Quandrell Woodberry and a good stop by Lake View on Johnsonville’s Takhari Ross, Johnsonville punted. Lake View took over on their own 1-yard line!
Tyrell Foxworth picked up a first down that was nullified due to a Lake View penalty. Tyrell Foxworth carried from Lake View’s 5-yard line to Johnsonville’s 30-yard line. Kason Herlong picked up some good yards. Johnsonville blocked a pass to a Lake View receiver. The half ended after Kason Herlong was sacked with the score knotted at 7.
Lake View kicked off to Johnsonville to begin the second half. After Larkin Powell kept the football for a short gain, Johnsonville fumbled on the next play, and Lake View recovered.
The Wild Gators had a first and ten on Johnsonville’s 32-yard line. Tyrell Foxworth picked up a first down followed by an 8-yard pickup on a completed pass to Caleb Myers. Tyrell Foxworth scored with 8:54 remaining in the third quarter.
After 3 quarters of play, Lake View held a 14-7 lead over Johnsonville.
Lake View’s punt was blocked, and Johnsonville took over on Lake View’s 34-yard line.
The Flashes completed a pass to Skylar Montgomery. With 7:31 remaining in the game, Johnsonville scored. The PAT was good by Jake Squires. The score was knotted at 14.
After receiving the kickoff, Tyrell Foxworth went to work. He quickly picked up a first down and carried 2 more times before carrying the pigskin to Johnsonville’s 2-yard line. Tyrell Foxworth carried to the 1-yard line before Lake View crossed the goal line with 2:14 remaining in the game. The PAT was good. Lake View led 21-14. This would be the final score of the game.
Lake View advanced to the next round.
Lake View is 10-1 for this football season.
