The Loris Lions tamed the Dillon Wildcats 14-3 in varsity baseball action played in Dillon at Dillon Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, April 23.
Prior to the game the Dillon Wildcat Seniors were honored.
Loris’ Jackson Huff picked up the win. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 8 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out 5. Aiden Suggs pitched 1 inning and allowed no hits, no runs, walked no one, and struck out 3.
Dillon’s Bryson Davis started on the mound for the Wildcats. He pitched 1 inning and allowed 3 hits, 4 runs that were earned, walked 4, and struck out 1. Jamison Pittman took the mound in the top of the second inning. He pitched 3.2 innings and allowed 9 hits, 6 earned runs, walked no one, and struck out 2. Dan Graves took the mound in the fifth inning. He pitched 0.2 innings and allowed 2 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out no one. Brenden Miles pitched 0.2 innings and allowed 1 hit, 1 run that was not earned, walked 2, and struck out 1.
The Loris Lions placed 4 runs onto the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. The Dillon Wildcats responded with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Dan Graves hit a grounder to second and arrived safely at first. Dillon’s #7 sac bunted to move Graves to second. Dillon’s #3 hit a sac fly to center that allowed Graves to score.
Dillon’s #1 hit one to deep center for a triple. The Wildcats’ #24 hit a sac grounder to third to pick up the rbi. After 2 innings of play, Loris led 4-2.
The Lions added 2 runs in the top of the third inning to go up 6-2.
Loris added 4 runs in the top of the fifth inning to increase the lead to 10-2.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Dillon’s #7 hit a grounder to short for a single. The Wildcats’ #16 hit one between short and second for a single to place runners on first and second. Dillon’s #10 hit one up the middle for a single and a rbi. After 5 innings of play, Loris was up 10-3.
Loris added4 runs in the top of the sixth inning to go up 14-3.
Dillon’s Brenden Miles had a hit and scored a run in 2 at-bats. N. Branch and Hank Grider each had a hit and a rbi in 3 at-bats. Ryan Carter had a hit ands a rbi in 2 at-bats while Jamison Pittman had a hit in 2 at-bats. B. Davis had a hit, a walk, and scored a run in 2 at-bats. M. Jackson had a hit in 2 at-bats. Dan Graves had a hit and scored a run in 3 at-bats.
