Lake View FFA Wins First Place In Region In John Deer Gator Wars Event

The Lake View High School FFA competed in the John Deere Gator Wars Event November 14th. They placed 1st in our region and will advance to state finals later this school year. The members that competed were Michael Brigman, Peyton Cook, River Hardee, and Dylan Wall.
The purpose of the John Deere Gator Wars Event is to stimulate interest, encourage proficiency development, and recognize excellence of students using skills in agricultural mechanics.
Members go to workstations and diagnose “problems” presented by way of “Technician-like” issues. Those can range from gapping spark plugs to setting torque wrenches to understanding electrical issues. Stations cover drivetrain, engines, electronics, and hydraulic systems. Participants are graded on their abilities to identify and solve those problems.
John Deere’s focus is to offer a competition for the Ag Mechanic-minded FFA member and connect members with dealers, showing them real opportunities in real dealerships.
