The Floyd Dale Park was dedicated on Saturday, November 9, at 10:00 a.m.
County Councilman Stevie Grice noted that this was a beautiful with this event honoring a beautiful park in Floyd Dale. He remarked that a park in Floyd Dale had been discussed for quite some time. However, about 2 years ago, Ryan Schafer of The Schafer Foundation turned “talk” into a realty by paying for not only this park but also one at Hamer.
Grice stated that this park is a great asset for Floyd Dale, and that we all are very grateful for The Schafer Foundation making this a reality.
Coach Jackie Hayes and the schools will be donating some equipment such as swings to be added to the Floyd Dale Park.
Dillon County Administrator Tim Harper echoed Grice’s comments and thanked Ryan Schafer and The Schafer Foundation for this great gift to the Floyd Dale Community. This park will be used not only by kids but also adults.
Harper stated that the city, county, and Representative Hayes and Senator Kent Williams enjoyed a great relationship. Again, Harper thanked everyone.
Councilman Grice also thanked Senator Kent Williams and Representative Hayes plus he also thanked the present and future council members.
Dr. James Orr also thanked the Schafer Foundation and all of the representatives. Dr. Orr is an active member of the Floyd Dale Community. Orr reminded everyone of Pyerian Baptist’s upcoming Veterans event and also of the chili event today (Saturday, November 9) at the Floyd Dale Fire Department. Orr said that Dillon County is a great place to live.
He offered a prayer for the Floyd Dale Park.
