Prior to the start of the football game, Dillon honored all the seniors on the football team plus Mariah Campbell on the girls’ varsity basketball team.
The Dillon Wildcats won 56-0 on Senior Night over the visiting Georgetown Bulldogs in varsity football played at Dillon Memorial Stadium on Friday, November 1.
Dillon took the opening kickoff and wasted no time in getting into the endzone for 6 points with a 36-yard touchdown after a reception to Ejan Green with 11:32 remaining in the first quarter of play. The PAT was good by Stephen Rojas.
Georgetown was forced to punt on fourth down.
Dillon’s Zamarious Robertson scampered for a 76-yard touchdown with 9:20 remaining in the first quarter. Once again, Stephen Rojas’ PAT sailed through the goal post to give Dillon a 14-0 lead.
After another punt by the Bulldogs, Dillon’s Trayvon Brown picked up 2 first downs before Rahmond Hamilton kept the pigskin for a short gain followed by Tayvon Brown who scored with 6:33 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was good by Stephen Rojas to give the Wildcats a 21-0 lead.
Dillon recovered a fumble on the next kickoff to Georgetown to give the Wildcats good field position on the Bulldogs’ 25-yard line.
The Bulldogs defense stopped Jalen McGill for a 1-yard loss before Jalen McGill carried to the 2-yard line for a 24-yard pickup and a first down. Jalen McGill was stopped by Georgetown’s #52 on the next carry. On the next offensive play for the Wildcats, Georgetown’s #77 stopped Jalen McGill. The Wildcats faced a fourth down and goal, Rahmond Hamilton carried the pigskin into the end zone from 2 yards. The PAT was good by Stephen Rojas to give Dillon a 28-0 lead with 4:16 remaining in the first quarter.
After the kickoff, the Bulldogs began on their own 36-yard line. On a reverse, Georgetown’s #3 carried for 2 yards. The Bulldogs faced a fourth down and 8 yards to go. Dillon’s JoTavious McCallister intercepted a pass after the bad snap.
On Dillon’s first play from offense on this series of downs, Dillon’s Rahmond Hamilton fumbled but recovered the fumble and lost 6 yards on the play. With 1:51 remaining in the first quarter, Nigel Gillespie scored. After a bad snap on the PAT, Zamarious Robertson carried the football into the end zone for the 2-point conversion. Dillon led 36-0 that would be the score at the end of the first quarter.
With about 8 minutes left in the first half, Dillon’s #31 rushed for an 81-yard touchdown. The PAT was good by Stephen Rojas. Dillon led 43-0 as would be the score at halftime.
With about 3 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Jalen McGill rushed for a 1-yard touchdown. The PAT was good by Stephen Rojas. Dillon was up 50-0
Dillon’s #33 finished the scoring with a 55-yard touchdown. The PAT was missed.
By the end of the game, the Wildcats were up 56-0 with the win.
