Latta won 28-6 over visiting Lake View on Wednesday, October 16, at Latta in junior varsity football.
Lake View took the opening kickoff and quickly scored on a 50-yard rushing TD by #5. The 2-point conversion failed.
Not to be outdone, Latta’s #11 quickly responded with a 50-yard rushing touchdown. The 2-point conversion was good by #15. Latta was up 8-6.
Lake View fumbled the kickoff but recovered. Lake View’s #2 was stopped in the backfield for a loss as was #11 on the next play. Latta’s #10 deflected a pass, and Lake View was forced to punt.
After the first quarter of play, Latta led 8-6.
Latta forced a fumble and recovered on Latta’s own 23-yard line. Latta’s offense went to work.
Latta’s #1 rushed for a big gain. However, on the next play, Latta fumbled, and Lake view recovered with 4:44 remaining in the first half.
The Wild Gators ran a reverse with #5 carrying for big yardage. Lake View turned the football over on fourth down with an incomplete pass with Latta taking possession on Latta’s own 30-yard line.
At halftime, Latta held a 2-point lead, 8-6, over Lake View.
During halftime activities, the youth football teams of Latta were recognized.
Latta’s #11 scored with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter to go up 14-6. The Vikings’ #11 rushed for the 2-point conversion. Latta led 16-6.
Lake View fumbled, and Latta recovered with 3:00 minutes remaining in the third quarter. With 1:02 remaining in the third quarter, Latta’s #12 was on the receiving end of a completed pass and scored. The 2-point conversion failed. Latta led 22-16.
Latta added another touchdown before the game ended.
At the conclusion of the game, everyone was asked to join at the 50-yard line where Josh Walters, Youth Director at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, held a brief service for the Lord.
Latta will host Hannah-Pamplico on Wednesday, October 23, at 6:00 p.m.
Lake View will host Hemingway at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23.
