Dillon County Sheriff Jamie Hamilton recently welcomed back two former officers at the Dillon County Detention Center.
Emily Sturgeon
Emily Sturgeon began her career in law enforcement in 2022. She previously worked at the Detention Center before accepting a position as a police officer with the City of Dillon Police Department. She decided to come back to the Detention Center. Emily is a graduate of Lake View High School and is currently enrolled in school at Florence- Darlington Technical College in Criminal Justice. She is about to begin classes at Pee Dee Regional to obtain her Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification. Emily said, “I love serving the community and helping others.”
Sequan Jones
Sequan Jones began his career at the Dillon County Detention Center in September 2022. Sequan is a 2015 graduate of James Madison High School. While he took a break from law enforcement, Sequan explained his passion is law enforcement and he wants to make a career out of it. Sequan is excited to be back at the Detention Center and later in his career, he hopes to move over to the Sheriff’s Office as a deputy. Sequan said, “I enjoying working at the Detention Center with the staff.”
Sheriff Hamilton is glad to have Emily and Sequan back on staff at the Detention Center and appreciates their dedication to the citizens of Dillon County.
