Dillon Defeats Hartsville 30-6 In JV Football

The Dillon JV Wildcats defeated the Hartsville Red Foxes 30-6 in football action played at Dillon Memorial Stadium on Thursday, September 19.
Although the game began with no rain. Both teams and the fans had to watch the game in the rain for a short time.
Dillon’s #1 took the opening kickoff and scampered 83 yards for the touchdown with 9:45 remaining in the first quarter. Dillon’s #10 carried for the 2-point conversion to give Dillon an 8-point early lead.
Dillon takes over on downs after Hartsville’s quarterback fired an incomplete pass on fourth down.
Dillon began on their own 20-yard line. Dillon’s #4 carried after the reception followed by Dillon’s quarterback who carried for 2 first downs and then scored with 8:16 remaining in the second quarter. The PAT was good by #37. Dillon led 15-0.
Once again, the Hartsville offense could not muster a first down, and the Red Foxes’ #97 punted not once but twice due to a penalty. Dillon took over on Hartsville’s 43-yard line.
Dillon’s quarterback kept for a first down followed by a carry by Dillon’s #3. With 2:17 remaining in the first half, Dillon’s quarterback scored the touchdown with 2:17 remaining in the first half. Dillon’s quarterback carried the pigskin into the endzone for the 2-point conversion to give Dillon a 23-0 lead.
The Hartsville offense began to move the football with carries by #31, #37, and #3. Hartsville’s quarterback, #15, fired a completed pass to #31. Time expired with no score.
Hartsville’ #5 returned the second half kickoff to Hartsville’s own 34-yard line. A 10-yard penalty moved the football to the 24-yard line followed by a 5-yard offside penalty against Hartsville that moved the football to Hartsville’s own 19-yard line. Hartsville faced a third down and 18 yards to go. #3 carried for a 14-yard pickup for the Red Foxes. On fourth down and 4 yards to go, Hartsville’s #97 punted. Dillon took over on Dilon’s 21-yard line.
Dillon’s #23 picked up 3 yards followed by a 3-yard pickup for Dillon’s quarterback. On fourth down and 3 yards to go, Dillon’s quarterback once again kept the football. There was a flag on the play that gave Dillon a first down. Dillon tossed a pass to #4 that lost 7 yards. Dillon’s quarterback kept for 9 yards. On third down and 8 yards to go, Dillon’s #10 threw an incomplete pass intended for Dillon’s #13. Dillon’s #4 punted and got a good roll that carried the football to Hartsville’s 6-yard line.
Hartsville’s #97 punted on fourth and 2 as the third quarter came to an end.
Dillon started on the Wildcats’ 49-yard line. After a completed pass to #4 for 7 yards, Dillon’s #23 carried to Hartsville’s 15-yard line. Dillon’s #23 scored from the 15-yard line with 7:45 remaining in the game. The PAT was good by #37. Dillon led 30-0.
Hartsville’s #31 returned the kickoff. Hartsville’s offense began with a 4-yard carry by #4 followed by a 4-yard pickup by #37. Hartsville’s #4 kept for a first down. #31 carried for a 9-yard pickup followed by a first down carry by #4. #41 picked up 3 yards. Hartsville fumbled but managed to recover their own fumble. With 2:26 remaining in the game, Hartsville’s #19 scored after a pass reception. The PAT was not good. Dillon led 30-6.
Dillon’s #4 returned the kickoff to the 5-yard line. Dillon’s #20 carried for a game before being stopped on his next 2 carries to end the game.
Dillon will host Loris on October 3 at 6:00 p.m.
Hartsville will host Wilson on Thursday, September 26, at 6:30 p.m.
