The City of Dillon Parks & Recreation held a tackle football meeting for coaches in the 9-10 and 11-12 year old groups at the City of Dillon Wellness Center on Tuesday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m.
The City of Dillon Manager Glen Wagner, the City of Dillon Recreation Director Kevin Scott, and several of the coaches including John Willie Brown, Tim West, Lorenzo Bethea, Ray Rogers, Billy Odom, and Dabba McRae were present for the meeting.
Discussions were held and many decisions were made.
Registration has begun for these 2 age groups and will continue through May 10 at the City of Dillon Wellness Center. The number of registered players on May 10 will determine how many helmets will be ordered. Of course, shoulder pads and jerseys will also be ordered. It is very important that this group of kids register by May 10 to be able to play in the fall of this year. The registration fee is $35. Each child must have a copy of a birth certificate to be eligible. The age cut-off date is September 1, 2024. If a child turns 9 on or before September 1 or no older than 13 on September 1, that child is eligible to play. Team placement of evaluations and draft week is the week of July 29th.
The City of Dillon will require that at least 20 minimum players in each category for the season to begin. Practice will begin on August 5, and games will start the week of Labor Day. The games will be played at home on week nights, probably Monday and Tuesday each week. No games will be played on Saturday.
If anyone has questions, please call 843-774-7218, extension 3 or 4.
Let’s all work together to make this a success. It will be great to see the football fields full again! The games will be played on the former soccer field and a new field with new lighting.
Please register your child or children by May 10.
