The Hartsville Red Foxes handed the Dillon Wildcats a 38-28 loss on Friday, September 20.
The Red Foxes got their first break of the game on a Wildcat fumble recovery on Dillon’s 48-yard line. Hartsville quickly picked up a pass reception to Dillon’s 23-yard line. A pass intended for Hartsville’s #7 in the end zone was broken up by Ejan Green. After the Dillon defense stopped #0 after a 2-yard gain and stopped #3 on fourth down, Dillon took possession of the pigskin on Dillon’s own 34-yard line.
Dillon was unable to muster a first down and was forced to punt on fourth down and 2 yards to go.
Hartsville, too, was unsuccessful in the moving the football and punted.
Dillon took over on Dillon’s 44-yard line. Dillon faced a fourth down and 10 yards to go. A pass completion to Zamarious Robertson netted Dillon a first down. Dillon successfully moved the football to the Hartsville 1-yard line. Domanick Felton scored with 2:46 remaining in the first quarter to give Dillon a 6-0 lead. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good. Dillon held the first lead of the game, 7-0 over Hartsville.
Hartsville wasted little time in getting onto the scoreboard as Hartsville’s #2 returned the kickoff for a score with 2:37 remaining in the first quarter. The Red Foxes #80 connected on the PAT to knot the score at 7.
Dillon returned the kickoff to Dillon’s 35-yard line. From there, Jamarion Fling picked up a first down and then another first down to Hartsville’s 42-yard line. An illegal procedure call cost Dillon 5 yards. Jamarion Fling was stopped after a 1-yard pickup. Ejan Green was on the receiving end of Rahmond Hamilton’s pass that netted 14 yards for the Wildcats. Faced with a third down and 2 yards to go, Dillon picked up a first down on a pass interference penalty against Hartsville. Dillon’s drive stalled, and the Wildcats attempted a field goal that was blocked.
The Red Foxes took over on their 23-yard line. Dillon’s defense prevailed, and the Wildcats took over on their own 23-yard line. Dillon’s offense was forced to punt. Jamarion Fling’s punt placed the Red Foxes on their own 43-yard line.
Hartsville’s quarterback, #15, scampered 57 yards for the touchdown with 3:34 remaining in the first half. The PAT was good by #80. Hartsville was up 14-7 over the visiting Wildcats.
After a holding call against the Wildcats on the kickoff, Dillon began on Dillon’s 10-yard line. Faced with a fourth down and 4 yards to go on Hartsville’s 31-yard line, Rahmond Hamilton’s pass was caught by Zamarious Robertson. Jamarion Fling carried. Domanick Felton scored with 32 seconds remaining in the first half. The Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good to knot the score at 14.
Hartsville quickly maneuvered the football deep enough to allow the Red Foxes’ #80 to attempt a field goal. The kick hit the bar but managed to go into the endzone for the 3 points.
Hartsville led at halftime 17-14.
Hartsville’s #2 returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter for a touchdown with 11:45 remaining in the third quarter. The PAT by the Red Foxes’ #80 was good. Hartsville led 24-14.
With 11:31 remaining in the third quarter, Hartsville’s #35 intercepted a pass intended for Zamarious Robertson. Hartsville’s #0 scored with 8:47 remaining in the third quarter. The PAT was good by #80. The Red Foxes were up 31 to 14 over the Wildcats.
The Dillon Wildcats’ Jamarion Fling punted to Hartsville’s 39-yard line.
Dillon’s Jamarion Fling intercepted a Hartsville pass and returned the football to Hartsville’s 43-yard line. Jamarion Fling carried the pigskin for a first down to the Red Foxes’ 26-yard line. With 1:27 remaining in the third quarter, Zamarious Robertson carried 26 yards after the reception for the touchdown. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good to cut Hartsville’s lead to 10 points, 31to 21.
Hartsville defeated the Wildcats 38 to 28 for Dillon’s first loss of the season.
Dillon has won 4 and lost 1 game this season.
Hartsville has won 2 games, lost a game, and tied a game.
Dillon will have a “bye” this week, and Hartsville will travel to face Wilson.
